Jordan, Greece discuss economic, cultural cooperation

Amman, July 13 (BNA) The Greek-Jordanian Joint Committee for Economic, Cultural and Technical Cooperation met last week in Athens, according to a statement issued today by the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.

The fifth meeting of the committee, chaired by the Secretary-General of the Ministry Dana Al-Zoubi and the Greek Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy and Openness Costas Fragogiannis, came 16 years after the last meeting held in Amman in December 2006.

The Jordan News Agency (Petra) stated that the meeting dealt with cooperation in the fields of construction, energy, agriculture, education, student exchange and exchange of programs to enhance cooperation in the field of medical tourism.

Al-Zoubi said that the meeting represents a great opportunity to talk about the global economic challenges caused by the Covid pandemic, adding, “We hope for more cooperation with Greece because of the many common interests related to an open economic policy that supports trade exchange.”

Fragogiannis, for example, emphasized the importance of increased cooperation in the economy and trade, as well as higher education, transportation, energy, agriculture, and other areas.

He stressed the importance of facilitating investment procedures for businessmen in the two countries.

The committee has concluded several agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields. He also stressed the need to implement programs such as double taxation, the 2022-2025 Cultural and Technical Cooperation Program, and many agreements that will be made through diplomatic channels.
