a day in the life of…
• Your bag is packed and you start early towards the airport. The destination for this project is Cape Town, but over the past few months you have already managed to travel to many countries across the Middle East, Pakistan and Africa.
• While waiting for the flight, you have a call with a member of the audit team from another project who wants to discuss one topic with you. From the factory, to the farms, to the various offices, you can act as a consultant to identify improvements across multiple functions and projects. You are able to solve problems naturally, using data to support your insights and improvements
• When landing in Cape Town, unite with colleagues from your project team. Working together at sprints for three months gives you a chance to build close relationships, and you really enjoy the diversity of the team.
• When you arrive at the head office of Nestlé South Africa, you initially meet the top market leaders. They identified the challenge, and explained that your first stop would be to visit the factory to talk to the operators about the “as is” process. Expectations are set, introductions are made, and your mind really starts racing about future opportunities.
• You begin to work on the tasks and responsibilities assigned to your team, and prepare your notes for your interviews in the afternoon.
• That afternoon you will go out to meet the operators. This is a practical role, so you want to understand as much as you can to be able to successfully recommend improvements.
Exhausted, but excited, she returns to the hotel and plans for tomorrow. No two days are ever the same, but you’re excited for another opportunity to truly drive our business forward across functions from marketing and sales to human resources and supply chain.
