Manama, July 6 (BNA) Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa inspected today the Coast Guard Naval Maintenance Base project.
The base is established to enhance the efficiency of the Coast Guard and its role in protecting maritime security and safety within the development and modernization strategy for all sectors of the Ministry of Interior.
The Minister of Interior was briefed on the progress of work on the project and the specialized maintenance workshops for the coast guard ships and barges, in addition to establishing a pier to accommodate several boats.
He stressed the importance of the project, which is expected to be ready next year. He said that the project comes within the framework of the strategic plan to develop the Coast Guard to enhance its capabilities in performing tasks and respond quickly and professionally in providing security services. He said the Coast Guard is equipped with the latest technologies and training systems to meet current and future needs.
