Inspired by Rocky Balboa, Shorty Torres releases poster for upcoming BRAVE CF 55 bout in Russia

Manama, October 12 (BNA) In 1985, Rocky Balboa traveled the world to land in Russia to face the biggest challenge of his career on Christmas Day.

Across the ring, Ivan Drago was the Soviet boxer who killed his former opponent and friend Apollo Creed during an exhibition match months earlier.

After a 15-round war, Rocky beats Drago within seconds of the clock and delivers an inspiring speech about change to a previously hostile audience who are now in the middle of a standing ovation, after which, they score the credits.

The plot of Rocky IV, the fourth installment in the hit Sylvester Stallone movie franchise, took millions to theaters in the ’80s and has touched the hearts of many since then, including young Jose “Shorte” Torres. So much so that when he had the opportunity, Torres didn’t think twice about re-enacting one of his favorite movies.

The similarities are actually there, except for the whole revenge part of course. Shorty is about to leave his hometown of Chicago, roughly 800 miles from Rocky Philadelphia, and go to Russia to face the biggest challenge of his career, a challenge that could have huge repercussions in his future.

Torres, who received a Rocky-inspired poster for the match, will face Ali “Puncherking” Bagutinov in the main event at BRAVE CF 55, on November 6, in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. The winner of the much-anticipated flyweight bout will move on to the prestigious BRAVE CF Flyweight World title against the special Willemurad.

But in order to find out if Torres is Rocky or Apollo in this story, the audience will have to wait a few more weeks.
