Cincinnati, Aug. 18 (BUS): Two-time major champion Simona Halep has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open due to a thigh injury, according to the WTA.
She was due to meet the 30-year-old Romanian Veronika Kudermetova in the second round, and the Russian would advance to the round of 16, Reuters reported.
Halep recently won the Canadian Open, bringing her back to the top 10 in the world rankings for the first time in a year. She is now ranked sixth.
