Industry Minister receives Alba chief; affirms government’s support for national companies

Manama, Jan. 23 (BNA) The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani expressed the government’s pride in the performance of major national companies and their contributions to the comprehensive development process.

He pointed out that the government’s continued support for all national companies and institutions, especially large companies with high added value to the national economy, has significantly contributed to enhancing the Kingdom’s good reputation as an incubator and an attractive location for global mega and industrial projects. During his meeting here today with the CEO of Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) Ali Al Baqali, the Minister praised the great role that Alba plays in developing the infrastructure of the national economy and promoting the upward growth movement in this important sector, on which the government is based. based strategies.

He congratulated the company on achieving a record production of 1.56 million metric tons in 2021, as it celebrated its golden jubilee of operations.

Minister Al-Zayani expressed Bahrain’s pride in this industry, which has become an incubator for national cadres, stressing the importance of strengthening the existing cooperation and coordination between the government and the private sector in supporting the transformation of the industrial sector towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Encouraging investment in technological infrastructure, in addition to increasing the efficiency of supply and import chains through the integration of Gulf industries.

He also highly valued Alba’s efforts in implementing the concept of a circular economy of carbon, and environmental and social governance that contribute to the activation and implementation of the Industrial Sector Strategy 2022-2026, which was launched as part of the economic recovery plan.
