Industry Minister highlights Bahrain’s four-year tourism strategy

Manama, March 26 (BNA) Bahrain’s four-year tourism strategy aims to stimulate GDP by 11.4% by 2026.

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani stressed the importance of the plan, which would enhance Bahrain’s position as a tourist destination, increase the number of targeted countries and diversify tourism in the Kingdom.

He explained that “the strategy is based on seven main pillars, which include work on waterfronts and activities, business tourism, sports tourism, leisure tourism, medical tourism, cultural tourism, archeology and history, media tourism, and cinematography.”

Al-Zayani, President of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), said that the strategy aims to increase the total incoming tourism spending to 2 billion Bahraini dinars, attract 14.1 million visitors, and increase the average daily visitor spending to 74.8 Bahraini dinars, and increase the average number of visitors. Tourist nights 3.5 days.



These targeted indicators enhance the tourism sector’s contribution to the national economy, diversify sources of income, create more job opportunities for citizens, increase the Kingdom’s competitiveness, and attract more tourism investments.



He pointed out that the pillars of Bahrain’s tourism strategy for the years 2022-2026 focus on facilitating entry, diversifying tourist attractions, including projects and events, marketing and promotion in partnership with the private sector and the national carrier “Gulf Air”, and promoting tourism.
