Industry Minister chairs Standardization and Metrology National Committee

Manama, April 28 (BNA) The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani chaired the 54th meeting of the National Committee for Standardization and Metrology.


The meeting reviewed Resolution No. 27/2022 issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, restructuring the National Committee for Standardization and Metrology.


And it appointed the Director of the Customs Clearance Department, Walid Yousef Ajour, as Vice-Chairman of the Committee, in accordance with Article 4 of the Standards and Metrology Law.


The meeting reviewed several technical regulations and related decisions, as follows:


Technical regulation for biodegradable plastic products.

Technical requirements for vehicles transporting liquefied gas cylinders.

– National Technical Regulations for Rebar Requirements (Carbon Steel Bars).

The decision to ban bottled water bottles in quantities less than 200 ml in the Bahraini market.

– Gulf technical regulations for electric vehicles.

Technical regulation of electronic nicotine products.

The decision to ban single-use plastic bags with a thickness of less than 35 microns in the Bahraini market.


The Gulf guidelines for product safety and market survey were also adopted in the Kingdom’s commitments to the World Trade Organization.
