India reports highest COVID-19 fatalities

Mumbai, Dec. 5 (BNA): Today, Sunday, India recorded the highest death rate due to Covid-19 in a single day since July after two states adjusted the number of deaths.

A spokesman for the federal health ministry said eastern Bihar added 2,426 unrecorded deaths while southern Kerala added 263 deaths to its tally on Sunday.

According to a Reuters tally, the revised figures bring the number of deaths in one day to 2,796, the highest since July 21.

The second devastating wave in March and April of this year saw thousands killed and millions affected.

Indian states have continued to add unreported deaths due to COVID-19 in recent months, giving weight to the views of some medical experts that such deaths are much higher than the reported number of 473,326.
