iGA survey: 94% of investors expect economic stability during Q1 2023

Manama, March 14 (V + BNA): The Bahraini Business Confidence Index (BCI) indicated that 94.01% of investors expect the business and economic environment to be stable during the first quarter of 2023, registering a lower rate of 1.66% compared to the previous quarter. a fourth.

This was shown in the Business Confidence Survey conducted by the Economic Statistics Department of the Information and e-Government Authority (iGA).

The results of the survey also showed that 49.35% of companies expect stability in their business performance while 44.66% expect improvement in business performance.

The BCI showed an overall increase to reach 103.84 points in the first quarter of 2023 compared to 101.99 points recorded in the fourth quarter of 2022, reflecting an increase of 1.85 points or 1.81% compared to the previous quarter.

On the other hand, BCI showed an increase of 8.38 points compared to the same period in 2022.

The survey revealed that 87.81% of the companies witnessed a range of economic stability versus optimistic performance during the first quarter of 2023.

For example, 57.14% of the companies revealed stability in their performance, while 30.67% witnessed satisfactory performance.

On the other hand, 12.19% of the sample showed their dissatisfaction with the performance of their business during the first quarter of 2023.

Business confidence indicators are measured using surveys conducted by the Information and eGovernment Authority on a sample of the business community covering micro, small and medium enterprises as well as large companies.

The scope includes companies classified as foreign and domestic capital investments with large capital and those that include foreign shareholders (as recorded in their records).

The scope of the survey covers all active establishments registered with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC), as well as companies licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB).

The BCI survey aims to provide investors, economic decision makers and policy makers with essential information and insights that help them make key decisions and take necessary action.

BCI also enhances the business environment that attracts investments and enhances competitiveness and business development through the availability of clear information about levels of business confidence and other information related to business size, sector and investment type.
