iGA, LMRA collaborate on Employability Skills Portal

Manama, July 5 (BNA) The Information and eGovernment Authority announced its cooperation with the Labor Market Regulatory Authority to develop the Employment Skills Portal.


The cooperation is funded by the Labor Fund (Tamkeen), and the platform provides comprehensive data on the skills and jobs required in the labor market.


The CEO of the Information and e-Government Authority, Muhammad Ali Al-Qaed, said that this partnership is in implementation of the directives of the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training, stressing the importance of cooperation with all relevant authorities in the economic development plan.


Scheduled to be launched in the third quarter of the year, the portal will increase transparency in the labor market by providing an informative database for job seekers, education and training providers, business owners and government institutions.


Al Qaed added that the e-services program will contribute to achieving the objectives of the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the government’s program, especially with regard to cloud migration.


The platform uses artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing technologies to speed up procedures and reduce government spending, saving time and effort.


Jamal Abdulaziz Al-Alawi, CEO of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, said that the Labor Market Regulatory Authority has always supported the development of high-tech infrastructure and strategies by contributing to initiatives linking databases with e-government to help accelerate the smart transformation in the country.


He highlighted the role of this cooperation in the development of ESP, which would simplify the transfer of data between the two entities, including the Labor Market Regulatory Authority’s information on the workforce in the Kingdom.

He added that the Labor Market Regulatory Authority will analyze smart data from multiple sources, and inform policies that address issues related to vital sectors in the Kingdom.


A number of ministries and government agencies will submit data to the Financial Services Program, which will be reviewed by the Information and eGovernment Authority before being added to the platform. These include the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the Social Insurance Authority (SIO), the Education and Training Quality Authority, the Civil Service Bureau, the Ministry of Education, the Higher Education Council, the University of Bahrain, and Bahrain Polytechnic.
