iGA announces results of Business Confidence Environment Survey

Manama, July 6 (BNA) The Bahraini Business Confidence Index (BCI) showed that 89% of investors expect a stable investment climate for the second quarter (the second quarter) of this year.


The business performance index stabilized at 98.13 points in the second quarter of 2022 compared to 95.46 points recorded in the first quarter of 2022, an increase of 2.67 points or 2.80% over the previous quarter. The current index showed an increase of 13.01 points compared to the same period in 2021.


The quarterly survey measures business confidence by company size, industry and investment type. An overall positive outlook was recorded in BCI’s business performance, earnings and competition sub-indices in the second quarter of 2022.


The results revealed that 89% of companies have a stable outlook to optimistic, an increase of 1.25% compared to the previous quarter. 48.1% of companies expect stable business performance, while 40.9% expect improvement.


The survey revealed that 80.8% of companies witnessed stable and appropriate business performance during the first quarter of 2022, as 59.1% of companies showed stability in their performance, while 21.7% expressed satisfaction. In contrast, 19.2% of companies were dissatisfied with their business performance.


The availability of this information helps promote a competitive investor-friendly business environment, allowing decision makers to take appropriate actions based on levels of confidence related to company size, industry and type of investment.


Business confidence indicators are calculated using the results of quarterly surveys conducted by the Information and eGovernment Authority on a sample of the business community. These range from small to large companies, including those classified as foreign and domestic investments (as indicated by the information in their business records). The survey aims to provide an indicator of confidence levels for active establishments registered with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, as well as those licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB).
