iGA announces provisional results of 2022 FDI Statistics

Manama, April 11 (BNA): The preliminary results of foreign direct investment statistics for the year 2022 showed an increase in the volume of foreign direct investment by 5.8% to 13.3 billion Bahraini dinars, as announced by the Information and e-Government Authority.

The statistics measure the volume and flows of foreign investments by the main entities in various economic sectors. This data is vital in helping decision makers to develop appropriate policies to attract more investments and contribute to the economic development of the Kingdom.

The statistics showed that the Kingdom’s annual foreign direct investment flows during 2022 amounted to about 733.6 million Bahraini dinars, mostly dominating the sectors of electricity, gas, steam, air conditioning, manufacturing, and financial and insurance activities, with values ​​of 226.8, 187.1, and 95.5 Bahraini dinars. million in a row.

Foreign direct investment from Kuwait accounted for 66.3% or 486.5 million Bahraini dinars of the total, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 189.2 million dinars, then Guernsey with 107.1 million Bahraini dinars.

The statistics aimed to identify sources of foreign investment according to the country of residence of non-resident investors, in addition to identifying the most attractive investment sectors.

Foreign Direct Investment Statistics is one of the most important publications of an international government agency, it helps to identify foreign investment stocks and flows. The Information and e-Government Authority, represented by the Bureau of Statistics and Population Register, conducts surveys in cooperation with relevant authorities and in accordance with international standards. The survey comes in accordance with a joint strategic statistical work plan supervised by the Statistical Center for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (“GCC-Stat”) with the aim of collecting foreign investment data in the GCC countries as a unified bloc.
