Ibrahimović out for 7-8 months after knee operation

Milan, May 25 (BNA): Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic underwent surgery on his left knee on Wednesday and faces up to eight months on the sidelines – if he decides to continue his football career.

Ibrahimovic missed large parts of Milan’s title campaign due to injury. The 40-year-old Swede made 23 Serie A appearances, although most of them were off the bench.

Milan said the knee operation, which was performed in France, had been scheduled for a while “for a definitive solution to the instability of the joint.” , according to the Associated Press.

The club added: “The operation was completely successful, and expectations are between seven and eight months.” Ibrahimovic will be 41 by then.

After Milan clinched their first Serie A title since 2011 on Sunday, Ibrahimovic said he would only continue playing if he felt well, adding that the months had been tough for him. His contract expires this year.

Ibrahimovic’s return at the start of 2020 was indicative of a transformation for Milan, as the Rossoneri finished second last season and ended their 11-year wait for the league title this season.

He also helped Milan reach their last Serie A title in his first spell at the club.
