London, October 11 (BNA) Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang clarified his comments on Mikel Arteta after a video clip showed him criticizing the Arsenal boss, saying he had “a lot of bad feelings” towards the north London club at the time. But now wish them well.
The video, which was leaked on social media, showed Aubameyang saying “the big personalities and the big players… can’t handle it. Some young players need to say nothing” as the Gabon international spoke about Arteta, Reuters reports.
Aubameyang said, on Monday, that the video was recorded immediately after his arrival to Barcelona, which he joined in February on a free transfer after the termination of his contract with Arsenal.
“At the time I was still feeling a lot of bad vibes – Arsenal are doing great things this season and I wish all my old teammates well,” Aubameyang, who signed with Chelsea in September, wrote on Twitter.
“And not only on November 6,” he added, referring to the Chelsea derby in London against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Aubameyang had a falling out with Arsenal and Arteta last season over disciplinary issues as he was stripped of the captaincy before his contract was terminated.
The 33-year-old has scored once in the Premier League for Chelsea, who are fourth with 16 points after eight matches.
