Hypertension detection campaign to kick off in Bahrain May 17

Manama, May 15 (BNA): A campaign to detect high blood pressure is launched under the auspices of the President of the Supreme Council of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Diabetes Association, Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. The campaign aims to raise awareness of controlling blood pressure and preventing complications from this dangerous disease, which can cause death due to strokes and heart attacks.

On the occasion of the celebration, the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Diabetes Association, Dr. Maryam Al-Hajri, said that on the occasion of the World Hypertension Day, which falls on May 17, a May campaign was organized to monitor and detect high blood pressure. She added that the event will be held under the auspices of Lieutenant General Dr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, primary health care centers, the Bahrain Red Crescent Society and other concerned parties.

Dr. Maryam Al-Hajri indicated that the campaign will be launched in the Seef Mall and will last for three days. This will be followed by campaigns to screen for high blood pressure in health centers and many workplaces. She revealed that the program consists of examining a random sample of 2,500 citizens and residents aged 18 years and over.
