Human development key to economic growth, says Finance Minister

Dubai, Feb. 13 (BNA): Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, said that investing in human resources is the key to further development and stimulating economic growth.

He stressed the need to build productive economies and continue sustainable development efforts to achieve further development and growth in various fields.

The Minister was delivering a speech before the Seventh Annual Forum of Public Finance in the Arab Countries, which is being held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Mohammed bin Hadi Al-Husseini, inaugurated the forum, which is being held in cooperation with the Arab Monetary Fund and the International Monetary Fund.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Arab Monetary Fund and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah Al Hamidi, the Director General of the International Monetary Fund, Christina Georgieva, and Arab finance ministers and central bank governors.

The Minister of Finance and National Economy expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the UAE leadership, government and people for the warm welcome and hospitality, and thanked the Arab Monetary Fund and the International Monetary Fund for their efforts to hold the seventh forum of public finance. He said that the forum provides an opportunity to discuss ways to enhance financial sustainability and economic stability, and to adopt appropriate policies to enhance public debt management, including developing and rationalizing government spending procedures to ensure efficient spending, and strengthening public revenue policies.
