As part of our ongoing collaboration with KAHRAMAA, WSP is looking for health and safety engineers to ensure that health and safety policies and procedures are effectively incorporated into the project in compliance with local and international rules and regulations.

A normal week includes:
• Manage the project’s HSE arrangements in accordance with the requirements of the WSP HSEQ management system, to ensure the protection of our employees.
• Manage health and safety inspectors to ensure that they monitor the implementation of health and safety arrangements at the project site level, in accordance with legal and client requirements.
• Reviewing and approving the contractor’s HSE plans, risk assessments and method statements against legal and client requirements prior to performing work.
• Planning daily morning field visits across project sites to ensure that health and safety measures are in place prior to commencing works.
• Carry out weekly joint HSE inspections with consultants and contractor staff and ensure that all corrective/preventive actions are closed.
• Initiate and test emergency response plans and ensure that drills are implemented according to project schedule and performance standards.
• Complete the follow-up of investigation reports on contractor’s accidents, identify corrective actions and close them to prevent their recurrence, and provide the necessary technical guidance to protect against accidents.
• Safely perform regular site reviews.
• Liaise with enforcement authorities and prepare and submit monthly HSE reports in conjunction with contractor and client staff.

We would love to hear from you if you have:
A bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:
• Fire and Safety, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Electronics, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, Instrumentation, Production Engineering or any other equivalent Bachelor of Engineering degree.
• Must have two or more years of National or International Diploma in Firefighting and Safety or Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent diploma from an accredited and recognized national or international institute, such as NEBOSH Diploma, CSP, etc.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in health, safety and environment, including at least 3 years with a recognized international consultant.
• Previous work experience in similar projects
• To have a valid certificate of first aid and basic firefighting from a recognized institute.
• Ability to communicate in written and spoken English.
• Ability to train in health, safety and environment topics.
• Ability to conduct accident investigations.
• Knowledge of applicable national and international health and safety laws.
• Be fully aware of the leadership techniques used to manage the project’s environmental health and safety issues.
