Manama, Mar. 16 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today issued Resolution No. (18) of 2023 regarding the establishment and formation of a cooperation committee between the Capital Municipal Council and municipal councils. And government agencies (hereinafter referred to as the “committee”), based on the proposal of the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and after the approval of the Council of Ministers.
The committee is chaired by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and consists of the following members:
1- Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture – Vice-Chairman
2- Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works
3- Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources Affairs at the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs
4- Undersecretary for Policies, Strategies and Performance at the Ministry of Education
5- Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning
6- Chief Executive Officer of the Urban Planning and Development Authority
7- Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health
8- Vice President of the Electricity and Water Authority for Distribution and Customer Service
9- Chairman of the Capital Municipality Council
10- Head of the Municipal Council of Muharraq Municipality
11- Head of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of the Northern Region
12- Head of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of the Southern Region
The committee undertakes achieving compatibility between the plans of the Capital Municipality Council and other municipal councils, and the programs of government agencies, in accordance with the provisions of the Municipalities Law promulgated by Decree-Law (35) of 2001.
The committee meets at the invitation of its chairman or his deputy at least once every three months, or whenever the need arises. The meeting is not valid unless the chairman of the meeting is present.
The committee may invite undersecretaries of other ministries and seek the assistance of whomever it deems appropriate to perform its work, provided that they do not vote in its deliberations.
The chairman of the committee shall appoint a rapporteur from among the employees of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, who shall prepare the agendas of the committee and notify the members thereof, write the minutes of the meetings, and carry out other tasks assigned to him. president.
Resolution No. (17) of 2009 establishing and forming the Supreme Coordination Committee between the municipal councils, the Capital Municipality Council and the relevant ministries was rescinded.
The Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Minister – each within his jurisdiction – shall implement the provisions of this decision, and it shall come into effect upon its issuance, and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
