HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly cabinet meeting

Manama, June 6 (BNA) His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister today chaired the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al-Qudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance, stating that 16 out of 27 economic recovery plan programs had been completed, with the remaining 11 programs to be completed during the next few years. The memorandum also explains the details of improving economic indicators in many sectors as a result of the plan’s successes so far. The Cabinet praised the efforts made to achieve this goal, stressing the importance of continuing joint work, noting the constructive cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities, and the role of the private sector in implementing the economic recovery plan and its programs.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Council of Ministers indicated that the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue to implement initiatives that promote a culture of environmental preservation and sustainability.

The Cabinet commended the announcement by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, to extend the armistice period in the Republic of Yemen for an additional two months, in accordance with the terms of the basic agreement that entered into force on April 02, 2021. In line with the initiative announced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in March 2021 to end the Yemeni crisis through comprehensive peace settlement. The Council of Ministers expressed the hope that this would contribute to a peaceful solution that would achieve stability.

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed several memoranda with the following results:

Agree to the following notes:

1 – A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision to form a national work team to combat infectious diseases, with the aim of supporting efforts to combat and prevent these diseases.

2- A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision to restructure the National Committee of the World Trade Organization, which is specialized in analyzing international trade agreements and studying their compatibility with national legislation.

3. A memorandum from the Minister of Finance and National Economy regarding granting the Swiss Confederation the right of sovereignty over the data of Swiss subscribers stored in cloud computing centers located in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

4. The memorandum of the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning regarding the implementation of the afforestation plan in the Kingdom of Bahrain in line with the commitments of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the goals of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).

5. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to a draft law submitted by the House of Representatives.

The Council of Ministers took note of the ministerial reports related to the participation of the Kingdom of Bahrain in: the 152nd session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the last week of the World Summit on the Information Society, the Seventy-fifth World Health Assembly, and the 151st session of the Executive Councils of the World Health Organization.
