Housing Ministry keen to provide sustainable services

Manama, October 30 (BNA) The Minister of Housing, Basem bin Yaqoub Al-Hamar, affirmed the keenness of the Ministry of Housing to ensure that its current and future projects are able to meet the needs of beneficiaries of services and facilities. Providing them with the requirements of a decent and quality life on the one hand, and continuing efforts to achieve the sustainability of housing services on the other.

He pointed out that the government attaches great importance to environmental aspects in housing projects by allocating green sites and paths in all modern cities, in addition to waterfronts, beaches and sites to practice various hobbies, indicating that the government seeks to promote sustainable development, citing the use of Salman City for green energy.

The Minister extended his sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of World Cities Day 2021, which is celebrated all over the world on October 31. . Theme “Adapting cities to adapt to climate change”.

In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency on the occasion of this occasion, Al-Hamar confirmed that the Ministry of Housing is making great efforts to achieve the vision of His Majesty the King in providing advanced services to citizens in its projects at the level of the governorates of the Kingdom, within the framework of a comprehensive vision of urban development in line with future development challenges and population growth rates in the Kingdom.

He pointed out that the urban development process that the Kingdom is currently witnessing is based on a number of foundations that ensure its sustainability, in response to the permanent directives of His Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister, and in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals approved by the Council of Ministers. United Nations, and is implemented within the government’s action plan.

Al-Hamar praised the Cabinet’s recent announcement of the Kingdom’s intention to reach net carbon emissions in 2060 to help address climate change and protect the environment, noting that the initiative will reflect positively on all development efforts in the Kingdom.

He pointed out that the International Cities Day is a good opportunity to restore Bahrain’s successful experience in building residential cities and the tremendous achievements that have been made since its establishment.

It should be noted that in 2013 the United Nations General Assembly adopted World Cities Day in its resolution A/RES/68/239, and World Cities Day was celebrated in October 2014.

World Cities Day aims to enhance the international community’s interest in global urbanization, advance cooperation between countries in meeting opportunities and address urbanization challenges, and contribute to sustainable urban development worldwide.

The day of observance is linked to Goal 11 of the Sustainable Development Goals, to make cities “inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.”
