HM King’s support has enabled Bahraini press to enhance its national role: Information Minister



Manama, May 2 (BNA): Information Minister, Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, affirmed that the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his relentless patronage provided the Bahraini press with a wider field of freedom and openness. The foundations that support the value of the honest and responsible word and consolidate its role in serving the Kingdom.

The minister affirmed that the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has enhanced the influence of the Bahraini press as an active and essential partner in the Kingdom’s comprehensive development process, which is being adopted. It is implemented by the government, led by His Royal Highness, under royal directives, and within a framework that keeps pace with democratic development in the Kingdom and respects the principles of freedoms, the rule of law and institutions.

Dr. Al Nuaimi made statements on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, which is celebrated worldwide on May 3, and Bahrain Press Day, which is celebrated on May 7 every year.

The Minister of Information congratulated the media and press circles in the Kingdom on this occasion, wishing them continued success in performing their noble and sincere mission in serving the nation.

The minister stressed that the press in Bahrain has shown, over decades, a distinct commitment to national constants, expressing the aspirations of the Kingdom and its citizens, by adhering to the honor and honesty of the word and its impact on educating public opinion.

In this regard, Dr. Al Nuaimi said: “We are proud of our national press, which was able, through the dedication of successive generations, to lay solid foundations for a Bahraini journalism school with a unique character based on respect for the authentic Bahraini identity, customs and traditions, and adherence to the noble ethics of the journalism profession and its enlightening role.”

The Minister of Information praised the pioneers of the Bahraini press for their creativity and sincere patriotic giving over the years, which paved the way for successive generations to continue their path, putting the interests of the country at the forefront of priorities, and adhering to its distinguished approach. The Kingdom supports peace, love and brotherhood as common human values ​​that are indispensable for the development of humanity.

The minister appreciated the contributions of Bahraini journalistic competencies, especially the youth, noting their keen interest in developing themselves and their tools to keep abreast of developments in the media and journalistic fields at the global level, and to enable the Bahraini press to maintain its leading role, regionally and globally.

He stressed that the celebration of World Press Freedom Day and Bahrain Press Day provides an important opportunity to highlight the distinguished achievements of the press in the Kingdom and the pioneering steps it has taken to contribute to the nation-building process.

He prayed to God Almighty to preserve the kingdom and to provide it with prosperity, security and stability under the leadership of His Majesty the King.
