HM King ratifies, promulgates Law 10 of 2022

Manama, April 7 (BNA) His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today ratified Law No. 10 of 2022 regarding maritime law and issued it after the approval of the Shura and Representatives Councils.

Maritime law shall enter into force in a manner that does not conflict with the provisions of relevant international conventions, treaties and protocols in force in the Kingdom.

Decree-Law (14) of 1978 regarding the registration of ships and setting safety conditions, and the maritime law issued by Decree-Law (23) of 1982, and any text that contradicts the provisions of this law shall be repealed.

The Minister concerned with Ports and Maritime Affairs issues the executive regulations and the necessary decrees within six months from the date of publishing this law in the Official Gazette.

The current regulations remain in effect until the issuance of the regulations and decrees of Law No. 10 of 2022 issuing the Maritime Law, provided that they do not conflict with its provisions.

The Prime Minister and the ministers – each within his jurisdiction – shall implement the provisions of this law, and it shall come into force after six months from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
