Manama, March 17 (BNA) His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today issued Royal Decree No. (13) of 2022 establishing and forming the Bahrain Council for Health Studies and Specialties.


The council is chaired by a member of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) and a vice president named by the head of the Supreme Council of Health.


Board members include the CEO of government hospitals and the CEO of primary health care centers, as well as representatives from the National Health Regulatory Authority, the council, the Ministry of Health, the Bahrain Defense Force Hospital, and the Public Health Department. King Hamad University Hospital, Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland – Bahrain, Arabian Gulf University, University of Bahrain, Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Cardiac Specialist Center and the private sector.


The chairperson, vice-chairman and members are appointed by a decree issued by the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health based on the nomination of each entity for a period of four years, subject to renewal.


It is not permissible to renew the mandates of more than half of the members of the same basic composition of the Council.


If, for any reason, the position of Chairman, Vice-President or one of the members becomes vacant, the person who replaces them shall be named with the same instrument, and the term of the new member shall be supplementary to that of his predecessor.


The Council supervises the establishment and evaluation of health training programs and their preparation for obtaining international certificates. The council also supervises the evaluation of professional certificates in various health disciplines, national health programs, and the establishment of specialized training programs.


The Prime Minister and the ministers – each within his jurisdiction – shall implement the provisions of this decree, and it shall come into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette.
