HM King holds discussion session with HM Sultan of Oman

Manama, October 24 (BNA) His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa held a meeting at Sakhir Palace today with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, King of Oman, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince. The Prime Minister and members of the two delegations.


The two sides reviewed the strong historical relations and ways to strengthen them, as well as regional and international issues of common interest.

His Majesty the King held an official discussion session with His Majesty the Sultan of Oman, in the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.


At the beginning of the session, which was attended by members of the two delegations, His Majesty the King welcomed His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, King of Oman, praising the visit, which embodies the solid and distinguished Omani-Bahraini relations.


His Majesty the Sultan of Oman expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the warm reception and generous hospitality.


The two sides reviewed the deep-rooted fraternal relations and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, stressing the continuous keenness to consolidate bilateral relations to achieve common interests and aspirations.


His Majesty the King praised the efforts of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in strengthening relations between the two brotherly countries, praising the comprehensive development in Oman and its pioneering role in advancing the Gulf and Arab work.


His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, expressed his happiness to visit the Kingdom of Bahrain and meet His Majesty the King, wishing Bahrain further progress and prosperity.


The two leaders witnessed the signing of the following protocols of agreements:

A cooperation agreement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman in the security field to enhance the efficiency of the security services in the two countries. The agreement was signed on the Omani side by the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi.


A cooperation agreement in the field of maritime transport and ports between the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the government of the Sultanate of Oman. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the field of maritime transport and freedom of navigation and to contribute to the development of maritime transport between the two countries. The agreement was signed on the Omani side by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, and on the Omani side, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

A cooperation agreement between the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) and Sultan Qaboos University to enhance cooperation in the field of studies and research, exchange experiences and coordinate in organizing conferences and seminars. The agreement was signed on the Omani side by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, and on the Omani side by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.


Agreement to establish a Bahraini-Omani investment holding company. It aims to establish a joint holding company between the two countries in the field of investment. The memorandum was signed by the President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Samir bin Abdullah Nass, and the President of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rida bin Juma Al-Saleh.


Granting the Sultanate of Oman the right of sovereignty over the information of its subscribers. It aims to develop, improve and sustain the quality of electronic services and cloud computing centers in the Kingdom of Bahrain for beneficiaries, and provide the appropriate environment to attract more foreign investments to the region. The agreement was signed by Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani and his Omani counterpart, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi.


Granting the Sultanate of Oman the status of an authorized partner of the International Center for Sea and Air Freight Services. The agreement aims to develop economic and trade relations between the two countries, allowing companies in the Sultanate of Oman to obtain accreditation as an operator of this service while giving them a number of privileges. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Industry and Trade, Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani, and the Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sayed Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi.


Their Majesties the King and the Sultan of Oman blessed the signing of the agreements that will contribute to further developing cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

Then the following memoranda of understanding were signed between the two countries:

Memorandum of Understanding between the Information and eGovernment Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Omani Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. It was signed by the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.


Memorandum of Understanding between the Bahraini government represented by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture and the Omani government represented by the Ministry of Interior to enhance cooperation in the municipal field. It was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani.


Memorandum of Understanding between the Bahrain Higher Education Council and the Omani Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. It was signed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi.


A memorandum of understanding between the Bahraini Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Omani Ministry of Commerce and Industry to encourage investment to protect competitiveness and prevent monopoly. It was signed by the Minister of Industry and Trade Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani.


Memorandum of Understanding between the National Agency for Space Sciences and the Omani Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. It was signed by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi.


Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Bahrain represented by the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Omani government represented by the Civil Aviation Authority to enhance cooperation in the field of air navigation. It was signed by the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi.


Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Social Development in Bahrain and the Ministry of Social Development in the Sultanate of Oman. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Social Development Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al-Asfour.


Memorandum of Understanding between the Bahrain National Museum and the Oman National Museum. It was signed by the Minister of Information, Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi.


Memorandum of Understanding between the Labor Fund (Tamkeen) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority in the Sultanate of Oman. It was signed by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs Hamad bin Faisal Al-Maliki.


Memorandum of Understanding between the Isa Cultural Center and the Omani National Records and Archives Authority to enhance cooperation in the protection of historical documents. The agreement was signed by Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of Isa Cultural Center.

An executive program between the foreign ministries of the two countries for the years 2023-2024. It was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani.


Executive Program for Agricultural Cooperation Memorandum. It was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani.


An executive program to activate the memorandum of understanding between the ministries of education in the two countries on enhancing educational cooperation in the academic years 2022-2023 and 2023-2024. It was signed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Majid Al-Nuaimi.


An executive program for the memorandum signed between the Ministry of Oil and Environment in Bahrain and the Environment Agency in the Sultanate of Oman to enhance environmental cooperation. It was signed by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Badinah, Minister of Oil and Environment.


An executive program for cooperation in the field of youth between the Bahraini Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Omani Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for the years 2023-2025. It was signed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayad.


An executive program between the Omani Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities for the years 2023-2026. It was signed by the Minister of Information, Dr. Ramadan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi.


An executive program for tourism cooperation between the government of Bahrain represented by the Ministry of Tourism and the Omani government represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for the years 2022-2026. The agreement was signed by Tourism Minister Fatima bint Jaafar Al-Sirafi.


An agreement regarding remote trading for brokerage firms through the electronic trading system (the exchange hub) between the Bahrain Stock Exchange Company, the Bahrain Clearing Company, the Muscat Stock Exchange and the Muscat Clearing and Depository Company. The agreement was signed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of Bahrain Bourse.
