HM King delivers message marking World Press Freedom Day

Manama, May 3 (BNA) In a message on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, which falls on May 3, His Majesty King Hamad praised the enlightening role of responsible journalism. He praised the Bahraini press and media institutions and thanked all its affiliates for their constructive efforts in enhancing the role of the press in promoting awareness and enlightened thought and conveying the civilized image of the Kingdom of Bahrain as an advanced model in protecting rights and freedoms.

His Majesty the King described the media and the press as an integral part of the Kingdom’s democratic and development march and the legacy of the cultural community based on diversity, pluralism and openness. His Majesty stressed the importance of the role of the press and the national media in promoting the pace of recovery at all levels and achieving national development goals with the return of life to normal in Bahrain and the world after the experience of the Covid-19 pandemic. He referred to the efforts made by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister in this regard.

His Majesty praised the professional response of the media and the national press to technological developments in this sector. He praised the adoption of a contemporary and advanced message to upgrade the various platforms and keep pace with the modern digital development in the world. At the same time, he affirmed the commitment to the values ​​and standards that reflect the Kingdom’s identity and its established values ​​and the commitment to tolerance and coexistence, as common human values ​​that are indispensable to human development.
