HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, May 9 (BNA) His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired today the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al-Qudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet commended the speech delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.


In the speech, His Majesty the King expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the national media as active partners in promoting the Kingdom’s national goals for sustainable growth and the progress of the plans and programs adopted by the government headed by His Royal Highness the Prince. Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The Cabinet continued to implement royal directives to enhance investment in food and security. In this regard, the Cabinet directed to continue adopting initiatives that guarantee food security in the agricultural, animal and marine fields and to increase the volume of national production to ensure food security and supply chain sustainability.

These directives come in the wake of the review of the memorandum of the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, in which the Council of Ministers assigned the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism to intensify control over prices. of goods and ensure their availability in proportion to the needs of the consumer.

On the occasion of the issuance of the royal order to adjourn the fourth session of the fifth legislative term of the Shura and Representatives Councils, the Council of Ministers praised the cooperation and coordination between the executive and legislative authorities, and the successes achieved in this regard. The development of the Kingdom and the realization of the aspirations of its citizens. The Cabinet also expressed its appreciation for the role played by the House of Representatives and the Shura Council in supporting national efforts for the benefit of the Kingdom and its people.

On the occasion of International Nurses Day, the Cabinet expressed its appreciation for the role that nurses in the Kingdom play in promoting health and treatment services in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Cabinet condemned the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted a water pumping station in West Sinai in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Cabinet also expressed its sincere condolences to the Egyptian government and people.

The Cabinet affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full support for all measures taken by Egypt to preserve its security, stability and safety of its citizens and residents.

During the meeting, the Council of Ministers discussed a number of memoranda with the following results:

Agree to the following notes:

1. The memorandum of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the development of a general framework for memoranda of understanding between the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the bodies that receive Bahrainis for treatment abroad. The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation in the areas of diagnosis and treatment.

2- A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s responses to four proposals, two law proposals submitted by the House of Representatives, and a proposed law by the Shura Council.

The Cabinet reviewed the following topics:

1. The Council of Ministers has followed up on developments in the emergence of hepatitis of unknown origin in children in some countries. It was confirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is free of this disease. The Cabinet directed the Ministry of Health to continue to take precautionary and preventive measures, to follow up on developments in the epidemiological investigation of this disease globally, and to prepare to deal with any developments in this regard.
