Heavy rains, floods affect nearly 80,000 people in northeast China

Beijing, July 30 (BNA): Heavy rains and floods caused by rain have affected nearly 80,000 people in northeast China’s Liaoning Province, local authorities said.

About 1,600 hectares of crops have been affected, with direct economic losses of 12.7 million yuan (about 1.9 million US dollars), Xinhua quoted the Liaoning Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters as saying.

Water levels in 13 medium-sized reservoirs and 17 small reservoirs in the county have exceeded flood warning levels. They are emptying the flood waters right now.

In the face of heavy rain from Thursday to Saturday, authorities have evacuated nearly 70,000 people across the province.
