Dr. Al-Salman said that Bahrain provides comprehensive health services that cover providing care for AIDS patients and raising awareness of combating the disease.
The minister highlighted Bahrain’s efforts in controlling diseases and achieving sustainable goals in combating AIDS to achieve the World Health Organization’s vision of “zero new HIV infections, non-discrimination, and zero AIDS-related deaths.”
She stressed that this can be achieved through programs of primary prevention, early diagnosis, prevention of complications of AIDS / HIV, avoiding discrimination against AIDS patients, while ensuring fairness and equality.
The Minister expressed her thanks and appreciation to the US Embassy in Bahrain, King Hamad American Mission Hospital for their support in organizing this symposium, which aims to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS.
For his part, the Deputy Head of the US Diplomatic Mission, Mr. Brownstein, thanked the Minister of Health and Dr. George Cherian, CEO of AMH and Chief Medical Officer for hosting the symposium and praised Bahrain’s efforts in combating HIV.
He stressed that such seminars reflect the long-term partnership between Bahrain and the United States in all fields, including the health sector. He praised the Kingdom’s efforts to strengthen the public health sector, care for patients and protect the rights of people with AIDS.
