‘Harry Potter’ stars to reunite for TV special

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21 (U.S.): “Harry Potter” stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint will reunite with other members of the blockbuster series for a TV special to mark their 20th anniversary, film studio Warner Bros. said Tuesday.

But “Harry Potter” creator J.K. Rowling won’t be among those making a personal appearance on the show.

Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid, Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), director Chris Columbus and other eight movie stars will join former child actors in “Harry Potter 20″ . The retrospective exhibition will see the actors return to the sets of the original Hogwarts boarding school that appeared in the first film “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” (“Philosopher’s Stone” in the UK) released in November 2001.

The film based on Rowling’s stories about an orphan boy with magical powers earned nearly $7.8 billion at the global box office.

A source familiar with the matter said Rowling’s name was not mentioned in the ad on Tuesday, but she will appear in archival footage that will be shown in the special.

The TV special is one of several 20th anniversary events planned by Warner Bros, including a Potter fan TV quiz competition hosted by Helen Mirren, which will feature star-studded appearances by some of the actors and celebrities including comedians Pete Davidson and Jay Leno.
