Hadjar inherits win in season-opening F3 Sprint Race

Manama, March 19 (BNA) Isaac Hajjar inherited a hard-won victory in the opening sprint season of the 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship this afternoon, which was held as part of the weekend’s events at the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

Prima Racing’s Oliver Berman crossed the finish line initially, but was then awarded a five-second penalty for the track limit, which put him in second place in the final classification.

Hajjar was promoted as the winner on his F3 debut. The Hitech Grand Prix ace had a winning time of 37 minutes 30.285.

Berman had to settle for second with 1.589secs behind, while Alexander Smollyar of MP Motorsport finished last on the podium in third with a 3.593sec finish of Hajjar.

Trident’s Zane Maloney, Prima’s Arthur Leclerc, Carlin’s Zach O’Sullivan, MB Motorsport’s Caio Collette and Hitech Grand Prix’s Kaelen Frederick finished off.

F3 field is now set for the first special race of the season on Sunday starting at 11.45am, with Van Amersfoort Racing’s Franco Colapinto taking the lead in the grid.
