Gulf women: Asserting ourselves in the media was not easy, but our perseverance has paid off

Manama, June 22 (BNA) The Gulf Radio and Television Festival 2022 kicked off its second day by gathering media personalities and exhibitors at the ‘Radio and TV Production Market’ exhibition.

The festival held a symposium on “Gulf Women in the Media”, which was hosted by the Bahraini journalist and activist on social media, Shaima Rahimi, in the presence of female media professionals from all countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

”We cannot imagine any field in society without the influence of women, and Gulf women have been beautiful media components over the years, and I hope that all the discussions and workshops held at the festival will be implemented on the ground. Rahimi said.

The symposium on “Gulf Women in the Media” touched on the latest debatable topics about women in the media, and reviewed the history, stereotypes and challenges faced by Gulf women over the years in this field.

“It was not an easy journey for us as women in this field, and since we had to overcome stereotypes of women in the media, we fought hard for our presence in the various branches of this field,” said Eman Marhoon from Bahrain.

The symposium discussed the different approaches related to social media among youth and women and the rate of participation towards the new digital age.

“There are no restrictions on social media, and people can use the platform and promote their work based on their approaches and ethics,” Baluchia’s statement said.

“People in this field need to be careful about how they use this broad platform. As women in the media, we need to take advantage of social media applications in promoting the image of Gulf women and the content they present to the audience and followers.”

300 participants and 75 judges will evaluate 300 artworks in the festival.

More than 300 radio and television stars are participating in the festival, which runs until June 23.

The festival includes radio and television competitions for shows produced by Gulf radio organizations, television competitions for Arab television stations and production companies, and competitions for short films.

The event also features digital media and press, a market for television and radio programs, and an exhibition of modern communication devices. and specialized intellectual seminars dealing with contemporary media issues.

The events of the festival are covered in a daily magazine and on the official and sponsoring TV stations of the festival.
