Manama, May 27 (BNA): Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has successfully completed the internationally recognized Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) which is issued every two years by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and renewed in the IOSA Safety Audit Register up to 5 years. May 2025. Gulf Air Chief Operating Officer Captain Suhail Ismail received the certificate on behalf of the airline.
The audit covers nearly 1,000 standards and recommended practices related to process safety, as well as maintenance, engineering, and airline-specific procedures. Gulf Air, as a member of IATA, is required to undergo IOSA initial audit and subsequent renewal reviews every two years. This enhances aviation safety and is recognized by insurers, many aviation authorities around the world and international partners.

This is the tenth audit by IOSA that Gulf Air has completed since 2005, in line with the two-year IATA audit cycle. Between audits, Gulf Air’s Quality Assurance department continually reviews and evaluates internal operational processes, conducting corporate quality controls and self-audits to ensure compliance with IOSA Standards and Recommended Practices, as well as industry best practices. This helps ensure that all safety and security matters are dealt with promptly.
The division focuses its efforts on corporate organization, management systems, air operations, operational control operations, take-off preparation, engineering and maintenance management, aircrew services management, ground services management, cargo operations, and security-related operations.
As a member of IATA, Gulf Air is required to undergo IOSA audit and subsequent renewal reviews every two years. IOSA is an internationally recognized assessment system designed to evaluate the operational management and control systems of airlines. One of the primary tasks of the airline is to continue to monitor and evaluate its procedures and policies to ensure the provision of high quality services to its stakeholders.
