Gulf Air successfully completes IOSA audit and renews registration

Manama, October 28 (BNA) Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, has successfully completed the internationally recognized Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), which is being renewed on the IOSA Safety Audit Register until May 2023.

The audit covers nearly 1,000 standards and recommended practices that all relate to process safety, as well as maintenance, engineering, and airline procedures.

Gulf Air, as a member of the International Air Transport Association, is required to pass an initial IOSA audit and subsequent renewal reviews every two years. This ensures continuous enhancement of aviation safety and is recognized by insurance companies, many aviation authorities around the world and international partners.

Gulf Air Acting Chief Executive Officer, Captain Waleed Al Alawi, congratulated the staff for their efforts in maintaining these international standards.

“We are proud at Gulf Air to operate in accordance with the highest international safety standards and best industry practices,” he said.

“IOSA’s recent renovation reinforces our ongoing commitment to safety and the ongoing development of standards, regulatory requirements and practices within our operations and engineering activities. As we strive to remain at the forefront of safety developments, this latest achievement reflects our success to date.

“Our team with its commitment to high safety standards continually strives to enhance and improve our policies, procedures and processes especially during these challenging times. We have worked over the past two years and since our last audit of IOSA integration of new standards and best practices.”

This is the ninth audit by IOSA that Gulf Air has successfully completed since 2005, in line with IATA’s two-year audit cycle.

In between IOSA audits, Gulf Air’s Quality Assurance department continually reviews and evaluates internal operations, conducting company quality control and self-audit processes to ensure compliance with IOSA standards and recommended practices as well as industry best practices.

All IATA members are registered with IOSA and must remain registered to maintain IATA membership.

IOSA is an internationally recognized assessment system designed to evaluate airlines’ operational management and control systems.

This outstanding achievement is the latest testament to Gulf Air’s efforts in promoting safety and compliance within the organization. It is an essential task of the airline to continue to monitor and evaluate its procedures and policies to ensure the provision of high quality services to its stakeholders.

The airline’s goal is to keep safety as a top priority.
