Gulf Air Acting Chief Executive Officer reflects on the airline’s role as an effective international citizen

Manama, September 21 (BNA) The Acting CEO of Gulf Air, Captain Walid Al-Alawi, spoke about the company’s achievements during a number of interviews and media opportunities conducted with him by many local and international media.


Captain Al Alawi stated: “We are pleased to have Gulf Air services and products recognized by many aviation-related entities; while maintaining our position as an effective and conscientious international citizen. and numerous international and regional flights, and a diverse range of products and services on the ground and on board. Winning these awards is a reflection of Gulf Air’s ongoing commitment to meeting the ever-changing travel needs of passengers; truly placing us in a “category of our own.”


During the pandemic, and being one of the few airlines in the world that hasn’t stopped flying; Gulf Air has brought back many citizens and non-citizens affected by the lockdown, and helped repatriate them. In addition, the airline shipped food and medical supplies to Bahrain using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner cabin seats to carry cargo. Furthermore, the US government formally thanked Gulf Air for returning US citizens from Afghanistan, as a token of appreciation for the national carrier’s humanitarian gesture.


Gulf Air was awarded the Skytrax Five Star rating for aviation safety COVID-19 after a robust audit by Skytrax Research conducted between November and December 2021. The rating was a direct result of the airline’s successful operations to fly safely during the pandemic and to enhance its success. Its airport and onboard protocols to combat the spread of COVID-19. The airline has earned this recognition by providing the highest standards to customers and employees while maintaining its boutique strategy of offering renowned Arabian hospitality.

Gulf Air also received, for the second year in a row, the five-star rating for the major airline from APEX. Based on the feedback of approved passengers only, the rating came as a testament to the success of Gulf Air’s strategy and major developments in its products and services since the recent launch of the brand and fleet modernization program.


Captain Al Alawi added: “I am very proud to have the opportunity to work with such a dedicated team of the national carrier workforce, to help transform Gulf Air and make it the customer-focused airline it is today. The team’s tremendous efforts have driven towards this achievement. The goal has led to many achievements and honors that we now enjoy at Gulf Air.”


Most recently, the national carrier was honored at the Changi Airline Awards in Singapore, winning the “Connection Award” and “New Airlines Award”.
