Government Procurement requests worth BD2.7 million discussed at ICT Governance Committee meeting

Manama, November 23 (BNA) Procurement requests from government agencies valued at about 2.7 million Bahraini dinars were discussed at the fiftieth meeting of the Information and Communication Technology Governance Committee.

The virtual meeting was chaired by Muhammad Ali Al Qaed, CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority.

The Leader welcomed the new committee member, representative of the Economic Development Board, Linda Janahi, and praised the efforts of the former representative of the Economic Development Board, Maha Mufeez.

The meeting dealt with many strategic projects and purchase orders, most notably the development of the mapping system for the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), which is an important part of Bahrain’s national 3D mapping program that will transform 2D and paper-based drawings into advanced drawings. 3D models via scanners and specialized software.

The committee also discussed developing applications and services for the Ministry of Education, which will improve public education and support digital empowerment.

The council reviewed the modernization of the infrastructure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs network, which will enhance its technical security readiness, performance and efficiency, and link the various ministry buildings, consulates and embassies abroad.

There was also a discussion about providing broadcasting services to Bahrain TV channels at the Ministry of Information. The commission achieved savings of 50% of the base value of the contract.

The meeting also dealt with the development of specialized systems in the orbit center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by providing advanced artificial intelligence programs

In addition, the committee covered several purchase requests related to upgrading information technology services in other government agencies and implementing decisions from previous meetings.
