GIB supports Forever Green campaign


Manama, Mar. 20 (BNA): The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Supreme Council for the Environment, received generous funding from the Gulf International Bank. To support the national afforestation campaign “Forever Green”.

This contribution comes to strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors in the implementation of environmental projects in the various governorates and cities of the Kingdom.

This support will also contribute to reducing the effects of climate change, preserving agriculture in the Kingdom, and supporting local and international efforts to reach zero carbon neutrality by 2060.

The afforestation support provided by GIB included the planting of 135 trees, Cassia Vistula and Poinciana in the Riffa walkway, in addition to planting 15 neem trees and Hibiscus Tellesius at the public transport station in the Maameer area.

The Riffa walkway planting ceremony was held in the presence of Sheikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of Al Nayed.

The afforestation campaign also included the planting of 8 neem trees at the public transport station in Nuwaidrat.
