German police: 8 dead in Jehovah’s Witnesses hall shooting

Hamburg, Mar. 10 (BNA): The police announced Friday that eight people, including the perpetrator, were killed in the shooting at the hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the German city of Hamburg.

An unspecified number of people were wounded, some of them seriously, according to the Associated Press.

There was no word on a possible motive for the Thursday night shooting that stunned Germany’s second-largest city.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz, former mayor of Hamburg, called the shooting a “monstrous act of violence”.

During the night, police said they believed there was only one shooter, and it could be someone who was found dead in the building.

Investigators worked all night to secure the evidence. On Friday morning, forensic investigators in protective white suits could be seen outside the building with a light snowfall. Officers placed yellow cones on the floor and window sills to mark evidence.
