GCC Women’s Affairs Committee hold first meeting

Manama, May 25 (BNA): The Women’s Affairs Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries held its first virtual meeting, chaired by the Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Supreme Council for Women.

This meeting came after the positive response from the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council to the Kingdom’s proposal to form the committee, which was announced during the first meeting of the Standing Committee for Women’s Affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which was held recently in Amman.

During the meeting, Shaikha Dina bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Assistant Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, reviewed the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in monitoring the empowerment and advancement of Bahraini women and their contribution to the national economy, in addition to its efforts to promote equal opportunities. and gender balance.

The meeting discussed the proposed structure of the committee and possible recommendations to be adopted.

The team also reviewed the timetable for preparing the GCC strategy for women’s affairs.
