GCC ministers responsible for environment hold 24th meeting

Riyadh, April 3 (BNA) The ministers responsible for environment affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries today held their twenty-fourth online meeting headed by the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli and the participation of the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council, Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf.


The ministers congratulated the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries on the success of the forty-second session of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and their great interest and interest in the process of the Gulf Cooperation Council, especially at the environmental level.


They also congratulated the United Arab Emirates on its choice to host COP 28, stressing their support and assistance to efforts to host this session, as well as support for Egypt’s efforts to host COP 27, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.


The ministers discussed the steps for implementing the decisions of the Supreme Council for the year 2020 related to the environmental trends of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the implementation of the strategic plan of the Committee of Ministers of Environmental Affairs, the latest developments in the launch of the Gulf environmental portal, in addition to the latest work developments. Progress in the projects of the Green Gulf Initiative, international agreements on the environment, and cooperation projects with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Morocco, the European Union, and Pakistan in the field of environment.
