GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardization holds meeting

Manama, October 20 (BNA) The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani chaired the third meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Standardization for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

Al-Zayani explained that the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism in Bahrain, in implementation of the directives and visions of the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, believes in partnership with the standardization bodies in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

He added that this comes within the framework of general cooperation in various fields, including the standardization sector.

Al-Zayani pointed to the benefits and benefits of strong solidarity in various areas of standardization that will support the Gulf economy by emphasizing the importance of imported and exported products meeting technical requirements and conformity assessment procedures aimed at protecting safety, health and the environment. .

Compliance with standards also facilitates trade procedures and smooth flow of commercial products between the GCC countries in line with applicable laws and regulations internationally.

The meeting also discussed the report of the head of the GCC Standardization Organization on the progress of its work in April-September, as well as the memorandum of the presidency of the body on approving the draft budget for the fiscal year 2022.
