GCC countries renew support to Sudan

Geneva, November 5 (BNA) The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Geneva participated in the 32nd special session of the Human Rights Council, which was held today to discuss the current situation in the Republic of Sudan. His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Yousef Abdul Karim Bucheery, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office in Geneva and Chairman of the Council of Ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council, delivered a statement on behalf of the GCC states in which he affirmed firm positions on the Republic of Sudan and continuous support for everything that contributes to strengthening its security, stability and unity .

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Youssef Abdul Karim Bujiri also stressed that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are following the developments of the situation in Sudan, and called on all Sudanese parties to avoid escalation and give priority to the country’s supreme interest to overcome this crisis. He added that the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries call on the Sudanese parties to take positions that would enhance dialogue between all Sudanese components and ensure respect for human rights.

His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Youssef Abdul Karim Bujairi affirmed that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are aware of the difficulty of the transitional phase that Sudan is going through, but are confident that the country will reach stability and prosperity. The spokesman for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries renewed the call of the international community within the framework of the Human Rights Council to take positions that support unity among all Sudanese components and contribute to calming the situation and restoring stability.
