Fury to face Whyte in all-British world heavyweight title clash

London, Jan. 29 (BUS) – Promoters of the world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury have confirmed that he will defend his WBC Heavyweight Championship against Dillian White in Britain later this year.

“Queensbury and Top Rank are delighted to announce that WBC and World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury will defend their titles against Dillian White after today’s bids,” Fury co-promoter Frank Warren said late Friday.

“The place and date of the fighting will be announced in due course,” he added.

The undefeated Fury, who has not fought since ousting Deontay Wilder in their three-way fight in October last year, welcomed the announcement by posting a video on social media, Reuters reports.

“Very happy you guys. The Gypsy King is coming home. I can’t wait. Dylian and I are going to put it to the test,” said the 33-year-old.

Chief Executive Officer Bob Arum added: “Dillian White got what he wished for. I look forward to Tyson Fury defending the heavyweight title in one of the biggest British fights in boxing history.”

The announcement ended weeks of speculation after a deal that would have seen Fury instead face WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight title.

Former unified world champion Anthony Joshua has been offered a fee to forgo his contractually binding rematch with Usyk to allow the Ukrainian to face the fury. Joshua lost to Usek in their first fight in September.
