Seoul, Nov. 3 (BNA): Among the 156 dead victims of the Itaewon destroyer, funeral arrangements for 121 South Koreans have been completed, authorities said Thursday.
The bodies of seven out of the 26 foreigners killed during the wave of crowds in the popular nightlife district of Itaewon were also sent back to their home countries, Yonhap reported.
She added that out of the 173 injured, 38 people are being treated in hospitals, while 135 others have returned to their homes.
The government has decided to provide 20 million won ($14,010) in compensation for each of the dead, as well as financial assistance of up to 15 million won to cover funeral expenses.
Surviving victims will also be awarded compensation of 5-10 million won, depending on the severity of their injuries.
Foreign victims are also subject to receiving the same level of funeral expenses and compensation.
