France calls for migration agreement between the EU and Britain

Paris, October 11 (BNA) French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has called for an immigration agreement between the European Union and Britain, which should also resolve the refugee conflict between Paris and London.

DPA reported that Darmanen said on Sunday that he supported a European treaty that would solve the problems of asylum applications, deportations and family reunification.

The project will form part of the French Presidency of the European Union, which begins on January 1.

According to the Home Office, the number of people arriving on the English coast this year has already exceeded 13,000, with 8,417 in 2020.

On Saturday, Darmanin visited Lone-Plage and Marc, two cities on the French coast where migrants try to cross the English Channel to reach Britain every day.
