Formula 1 announces it will race in Bahrain until 2036

Manama, February 11 (BNA): Formula 1 can confirm today that Bahrain will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2036, to extend Formula 1 in Bahrain for another 10 years, after agreeing with the promoter to renew its contract.

The Bahrain Grand Prix has been a great race on the F1 calendar since 2004 and has hosted two races in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022 it will be the inaugural race of the season and it has become a favorite of all fans, drivers and teams.

The impressive facilities at the circuit for both the race and the fans have recently undergone more investment, ensuring that they remain state-of-the-art and provide the best fan experience. Besides, the promoter has already announced important measures to increase the environmental sustainability of the event. This includes all the energy used by the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in 2022 which is supplied by a newly installed solar farm on site, to meet the needs of the Bahrain Information Center throughout the weekend and beyond while supporting the Kingdom and net Formula 1 carbon emissions targets. . The plans will reduce the venue’s carbon footprint and generate significant savings in overall energy costs.
