Former U.S. Open champion Raducanu receives MBE from King Charles


London November 30 (BNA): British tennis player Emma Raducano has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (MBE), just over a year after she shocked the sporting world when she became the first qualifier to win a Grand Prix. Grand Slam.

The 18-year-old Raducano took her career to new heights when she won 10 matches without dropping a set to win the US Open title, defeating Canada’s Leila Fernandez in the final.

In a statement made to the media after receiving her MBE from King Charles at his investiture at Windsor Castle, she said: “It was wonderful to receive my honor today from His Majesty the King – I am so grateful.”

Injury and disappointing finishes marred her first full year on the tour, and she is currently ranked 75th in the world.
