Foreign Minister praises Bahrain’s rich record in combating trafficking in persons, respecting human rights

Manama, July 20 (BNA) Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani expressed his sincere congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince. His Highness the Amir and the Prime Minister, on the success of the Kingdom of Bahrain in maintaining its first-class position in the field of combating human trafficking, according to the report of the US State Department, for the fifth year in a row.

The minister expressed his pride in classifying the Kingdom among the developed countries in combating human trafficking, which adds to its honorable civilized record in respecting human rights, promoting economic and social freedoms, developing the labor market and preserving human dignity for all citizens. and residents on the basis of justice and the rule of law, in light of His Majesty the King’s comprehensive and sustainable development process, and in accordance with the Constitution and international human rights standards.

He added that this international human rights achievement is the culmination of the government’s efforts, led by His Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to devote institutional work under the umbrella of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking. Through coordination and constructive cooperation between the Ministries of Interior, Justice, Foreign Affairs, Social Development, Information and the Labor Market Regulatory Authority in partnership with the legislative and judicial authorities and civil society to develop legislation and procedures and spread and facilitate a culture of human rights. Litigation procedures in the presence of a prosecutor and a court specialized in adjudicating these cases according to Law No. (1) of 2008 regarding combating human trafficking.

He welcomed the US Department of State and international organizations’ praise for the Bahrain team’s success story in reducing the repercussions of the Corona virus pandemic, by taking an integrated package of precautionary measures, and providing free treatment services, examinations and vaccinations to all citizens and residents. and expatriate workers, without any discrimination, taking into account the social and humanitarian dimensions, which contributed to maintaining the health and safety of all.

He pointed to Bahrain’s keenness to consolidate positive communication with diplomatic and consular missions, technical cooperation and exchange of experiences with United Nations organizations, especially the International Organization for Migration, and its continuous praise for the Kingdom’s distinguished reputation in the field of human rights as a role model in the region in the field of protecting rights, supporting expatriate workers and combating trafficking. By humans.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, in light of the wise approach of His Majesty the King, and the directives of the government led by His Highness the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister, in addition to the efforts of the Higher Coordinating Committee for Human Rights. Human Rights, is continuing its pioneering achievements in the field of human rights in line with the Constitution, Economic Vision 2030 and the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026), and consolidating its comprehensive development and civilizational gains in a modern and integrated executive and legislative framework. And the judicial system that guarantees respect for human rights, dignity, justice and transparency in a state of law and institutions.
