Foreign Minister participates in extraordinary meeting of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers on Afghanistan

Islamabad, December 19 (BNA) Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani participated in the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Afghanistan, which was held here today. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the Russian Federation, the European Union, the French Republic, Japan and the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The meeting issued a resolution affirming the commitment of the member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference to preserving Afghanistan’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and national unity in order to achieve peace, security, stability and development in its territories.

The resolution called on all countries, the United Nations system and international organizations, including international financial institutions, to continue to provide all possible and necessary assistance for the recovery, reconstruction, development and financial assistance to Afghanistan.

He also stressed the importance of combating terrorism in Afghanistan.

The meeting also issued a resolution on Palestine and the Holy City of Al-Quds Al-Sharif, in which it affirmed the importance of the Palestinian issue to the member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, and condemned the illegal measures taken by Israel to change the legal status and legal character of Al-Quds. The city of Al-Quds called on member states and the international community, including the UN Security Council, to assume their responsibilities in this regard.

The resolution emphasized that the key to any real peaceful solution starts with the city of Jerusalem and preserving its historical status, to enable the Palestinian people to exercise their inalienable rights, foremost of which is their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state. state with Jerusalem as its capital.
