New York, September 21 (BNA) Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani participated today in the Blue Leaders Forum for the Protection of Oceans and Seas, which was held in New York City and was attended by him – organized by the Kingdom of Belgium and the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Discussions focused on areas of international cooperation, ways to reduce emissions, protect the ocean environment in the face of climate fluctuations, and enhance the efforts of the international community towards this important environmental issue.
Forum participants aim to conserve at least 30% of the ocean by 2030, stave off the negative effects of climate change, create fully protected marine areas on the high seas, and manage human activities outside protected areas.
